Mike is one of the co-founders of KBE and serves as Vice President for the firm. Mike completed his B.A. in Environmental Sciences at the University of Maine and his M.S. in Environmental Engineering/Atmospheric Science from the University of Florida. He has also completed post-graduate studies at the University of South Florida, School of Public Health, in the Industrial Hygiene/Environmental Health Program where his focus was on air quality, toxicology and public shealth.
Mike is professionally registered as a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP) in the field of air quality by the Institute of Environmental Practice, a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) by the Institute of Hazardous Materials Management and a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene. He is also a Certified Toastmaster (CTM) by Toastmasters International.
Over the past 40 years, Mike has provided project management as well as hands-on technical involvement for a wide variety of transportation-related assignments throughout the U.S. and around the world. His technical experience in air quality includes the preparation of air emissions inventories, air quality monitoring, atmospheric dispersion modeling, mitigation plans and Conformity Determinations. He is also involved in climate change, greenhouse gases and carbon management plans. His clients include the FAA, U.S. EPA, ICAO, state and local regulatory agencies; foreign governments; airport operators, airlines, aircraft companies and aircraft engine manufacturers.
Mike is a published author, frequent speaker and popular instructor on the topics of air quality, climate change, risk assessments and hazardous materials.
Mike is also a native “Mainer” and tries to get back there whenever possible to go fly-fishing for trout and salmon.
